Artist Biography

He began work as a designer of printed calico, but from c.1862 began to paint quiet pastoral scenes, such as ‘Sheep Washing in Sussex’. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1870 and at other London galleries, and won medals at many international exhibitions.
