Artist Biography

Henry Pether (1800-1880) the son of the painter Abraham ‘Moonlight’ Pether (1728-1812) came from Greenwich and lived in London for most of his life. He painted landscapes and topographical scenes in England and on the Continent, but like father and his brother Sebastian he is best known for his moonlight scenes. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1828 to 1862.
