Louis Apol (1850-1936) was a Dutch landscape painter, born in the Hague in 1850. His real name was Lodewyk Franciscus Hendrik, and his masters were J. Hoppenbrouwer and Pierre Stortenbeker. The climax of Apol’s career was his success with a painting called “Winter in the Forest” at an exhibition in The Hague in 1875.
