Raffaellino del Garbo (c.1466-1524)
Raffaellino di Niccolò Capponi, called del Garbo (the Graceful) was a pupil of Filippino Lippi, and closely followed his master’s style. According to Vasari, del Garbo was considered a prodigy in his youth, and was particularly admired for his decoration of the ceiling of the Carafe Chapel, in the Santa Maria sopra Minerva in Rome, where he assisted Filippino. Later, however, his fortunes and the standard of his work declined, and he died in great poverty. Vasari and Berenson attributed a large number of works to del Garbo which are now thought to be by other artists.
