Edgar Hunt (1876-1955) painted farmyard scenes, particularly barn interiors with donkeys, calves and chickens. His paintings are highly finished in a detailed, realistic style that remained the same throughout his career. He lived in the Midlands, where his pictures are still keenly collected and was probably the son of Charles Hunt, a genre painter, and brother of Waiter Hunt (1861-1941) who painted farmyard scenes in a style similar to his own.
