He lived and worked in London between 1848 and 1875, exhibiting his paintings at the Royal Academy and at other London exhibitions. In 1876 he returned to Brussels and he remained there until his death in 1910. His paintings are represented in several Art Galleries and Museums throughout the world. He was awarded the Order of Leopold and Chevalier of the Legion of Honour. He painted Still-Life only, sometimes flowers alone, and on occasions with fruits and other accessories in a grand manner.
