Sebastiano Ricci (1659-1734) was trained in Venice in the tradition of Veronese; he also studied in Bologna and Rome, and worked for several years in Vienna where he decorated the Schönbrunn Palace. In about 1712 he came to England with his nephew and pupil, Marco Ricci, but little of Sebastiano’s work in England has survived apart from the ‘Resurrection’ in the apse of Chelsea Hospital and some large canvasses at Burlington House, now the Royal Academy. He returned to Italy, working principally in Venice for the last years of his life, and was a leading figure in the revival of Venetian decorative art that culminated in the work of Tiepolo.
Our standard prints are reproduced on a premium semi matt finish paper. Its micro-porous resin coating provides exceptional colour accuracy and stability
Our watercolour board has a natural white finish with a slightly structured, soft-textured surface equivalent to a traditional etching fine art paper. The surface has a special matte coating, designed for high quality fine art reproduction with giclée technology. It is an archival quality paper with great colour accuracy.
